When I was in San Diego at the SAMA (Society of American Mosaic Artists) Annual Conference, I bought some beautiful strips of orange and red glass. The first thing they reminded me of was the beautiful orange and red colours I had recently seen on fish in a koi pond. As luck would have it, I also had a good supply of blue 3/4" glass tiles in my remnants corner. Inspiration complete! From setting materials out to take stock, to the slow process of grinding most every square blue tile to make it curve nicely, here's a peek at the process from start to finish.
